New Camera

My mother gave me a camera, so it is new to me, but not really new, she gave me a Nikon D80. With this camera I am learning to use and I thought what a great option to take some pictures of the tornado damage that is still visible from two years ago. So I have posted a few here for you all to see.

This is the damage from the tornado that ripped through our town 2 years ago. The basketball court, I did not even know was there before the tornado.

I Do Not Get It.

As most of you know, I go to school. I am taking classes to earn a degree. These are college classes, yes people college. They are online, which makes it a little easier on my family, because then I do not have to leave a few nights a week.
Here is the thing though, every week we have to post responses in the main forum. We need to post at least 2 post's 4 days a week. I sometimes do not due that. In order for the post's to count though they need to be 150 words or more. This leads me to what I do not get.
I do not understand how they can say that a post needs to be 150 words to be given credit for it, yet they will accept it if it has 150 words, and the stupid little faces in them. WTF is going on? This is college not friggen junior high. Why would that be acceptable? Would you draw a picture on the bottom of a research paper if you actually had to go to classes?
I do not like these little faces anyways, but I do not think that they should be accepted in a college classroom, whether it is online or not.
On a side note in case you were wondering, no I do not use lol or any of that either, and I will tell you all the same thing I told my children. If I am going to laugh out loud, I will ,and I will tell the person if needed, by typing that I am laughing, because usually if I am laughing it is out loud.

A New Picture

I am always learning something new.

Being in online classes makes me more aware of how we learn something new everyday. Tonight I learned that there are many people out there that still believe that "fat free" means "calorie free" This just truly amazes me. I thought with all the talk of obesity and what is good for us and what is bad for us, we would know by now that "fat free" just means no fat, not that there are no calories in what we are eating. Are we all just eating ice cubes, and drinking water? Clearly to me this is just people trying to make excuses for eating whatever they want, whenever they want.
I have to watch what I eat, and exercise. Why do people think that these things are not important? Really.

Times have changed.. People have become mean.

I know that the times have changed since I was younger. If we went somewhere and did not use our manners our parents would have killed us. Not today though, I truly believe that some children are not taught manners. That being said does that make it OK for adults not to use manners?
One of the biggest offenders of this is the media. They call Jessica Simpson fat everyday. I would like then someone to explain to me the weight guide lines for our world. If your famous and weigh more than 1oolbs. soaking wet you are fat. If your not famous and weigh 100lbs. soaking wet you have an eating disorder. Hello what do you think is going to happen to all these children growing up today? I ask all of you to do me and the children of today a favor........ Always say please and thank you, no matter how bad your day is when you are in a store smile at, at least 5 people that look like their day is a lot worse, stop worrying about how late you are, your already late , and instead of noticing someone has gained weight and saying that they are getting fat, say something nice about them. And like my mom always told me "If you do not have anything nice to say, say nothing at all" ( Even if they are a celebrity and can not hear you, It is still mean, and someone else can hear you)
